What If Your Message Could Be Sent To God
by Susan Thom(42)http://onsuchthings.com
In this technological age, we are able to contact almost anybody we want, wherever they may be. My son will be in the Air Force in Germany for three years, but I'll be able to stay in touch via e mail. What if we were able to stay in touch with our father in the same way? We could write our message, send it, and wait for the return mail. Or, text, how about that? All our questions would be answered right in front of our eyes.
God is there, and He hears our pleas, our cries of helplessness, depression and despair. He sees our efforts to make things better, and to make things worse. He stands behind our compassion and our choice to try to make the world a better place in whatever way we can. He sees what lessons we learn as we trip over ourselves trying to keep balance in this world.
Everyone wants to think they are right with their assumptions and judgments. Why go to that far? Is it really so important to be right? If I were able to hit " send " , I would pray for peace all over the world. Not total and absolute peace; I doubt that would ever happen, we all still have our own defective character traits, but I'd wish for enough peace that there would be no wars, anywhere.
It has always been incomprehensible to me to think about war and what goes on during one, and the casualties of either being killed, maimed, burnt, shot, paralyzed, traumatized, and a million other ailments our military men and woman must face. I would send that message over and over. I already know what my answer would be, I think, " These things are your choices, my children, figure out how to make them better. "
I watch the nature channels with my partner, and I've been exposed to things I never even knew existed. Last night, it was the snake fish, another night we watched the moon landing and walk, another time we saw crystal caves far underground. We have massive and impeccably sleek skyscrapers, and we can fly in a plane through the sky. We have those who figure out where a disease originated, and how to eradicate it.
All very clever and inventive situations. But we can't learn how to talk to our enemies and stop the bloodshed? Is the love of money really at the root of that evil as well? On the nature shows I see the most unique, colorful creatures, from different kinds of fish to mammals to birds, and anything else one could think about. Most of them only attack one another for either food or protection, and many have built in weapons.
One doesn't look up and see 2,000 bluebirds attacking 2,000 robins. Yes, peace would definitely be my first message sent. I would also send a text asking what our reason is for being on this Earth. I don't know if He'd answer or not, but I'd love to know. In my opinion, it is to learn. We learn something new almost daily. We learn how to be happy or sad, good or bad, vindictive or compassionate, helpful or jealous, miserly or giving.
We have the ability to change ourselves. If we are intelligent enough, we can recognize the need to identify our flaws at some point in our life, and do something positive about them. If we haven't been able to deal with certain annoyances, we can learn to better tolerate them. If we lack patience, we can get help through therapy, reading books, watching videos, going to classes, but you can do it.
There are plenty of books on anger management, those that teach us how to stop others from bothering us anymore. There may be situations that rest heavy on our minds, hearts and souls. We can learn how to minimize our anxieties, by thinking positively about them, instead of negatively, is a good start. So much dissention can be shaved off our lives if we only send ourselves a message to simply try our best, and we all know what that is for us.
It's the same for everybody. Be honest, loving, giving, non judgmental, respectful, and responsible. Stay away from those that mean you harm, surround yourself with positivity and love.Treat others the way you would want to be treated. If that doesn't happen, there will be a great deal of unrest. I think I'll use my mind to text God, and wait for answers, which always come, maybe just not in the way we want them to.
