Where Does Our Inspiration Emanate From
by Susan Thom(43)http://onsuchthings.com
We wake up to the sun shining in our eyes, and hear the birds chirping, and slowly come out of our sleep, and realize, it's another day. What will we do with it? There's more to 24 hours than taking a shower, getting dressed, having coffee and breakfast, and either going off to work or starting to clean the house. We have 24 hours ahead of us to do as we please.
We may daydream of going to the mall and buying everything we see that we'd like to have. Without the money, however, our excursion remains a dream. So what next? If we have a job, we can try to make our 8 hours the best they can be. Our cheery disposition may be just what every one of our coworkers need. If we have the means, we could stop for a box of dunkin' donuts, or a box of Entenmanns's.
We might volunteer to stay an extra hour so our boss can make it to her son's baseball game. If it's the season, we could pick some of our flowers growing around the property, and bring color and brightness into the office. We may notice the newbie trying to figure out the copy machine, and take a walk over to help them. There are hundreds of ways we can make life better for ourselves as well as others.
If we work at home, we can strive to keep it clean, appealing, cozy, comfortable, inviting, and warm. This takes a great deal of physical work, and anyone who does so knows this to be a fact. Laundry needs to be done, rugs vacuumed, bathrooms and kitchens cleaned, and errands run. Dinner must be kept into consideration, and cooked, and dishes taken from the table and washed or put in the dishwasher.
Where does all this inspiration come from? Where does this energy that pushes us forward all day emanate from? In my belief system, it comes from God. Knowing that there is a God, and that He loves me, and wants what's best for me, is inspiring. When things aren't going well, I always know that there is a reason, and if I do my homework, I usually can figure it out. If I can't, I rely on the love and goodness of God to help me through.
I don't have to know at the time why things are happening the way they are, I simply need to trust in God's love and concern, and do the right things, and I will be inspired to do whatever I need to accomplish. It certainly isn't always easy, many times there are situations that are very painful and confusing. And there are times I succumb to the pain I am feeling.
However, I am committed to believing that we are on a journey to learn while on this Earth. Therefore, when things block our view and perspective, and hurt our minds, hearts, and souls, I believe God is hurting, too. Just like we parents hurt when one of our kids does something wrong. He is pulling for us to think in the right manner that will help solve whatever circumstance we may find ourselves in.
Pulling for us, but not doing for us, that's our job. The connection is there, and can be felt mostly in our darkest hours. When we are raw, and hurt, and ask for God's help, I believe we can feel the warmth of His love, letting us know He's there for us, encouraging us to do the next right thing. And as long as we believe this, we can deal with our consequences, and become inspired once again by the bright connection we have with our Father.

Susan,I loved your words. The line, 'Pulling for us, but not doing for us, that's our job.' is the answer. If we follow this advice, we will find not only inspiration but happiness and joy as well.Thank you for a great article.NancyRespond to this comment

Sue, I was inspired as I read this article. Gregory Lewis let a post at SearchWarp yesterday that said, "The universe never gave me anything. Everything I have was given to me by God." I may have paraphrased it slightly but I couldn't agree with him more just as I'm in agreement with you about where our inspiration emanates. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He also makes up those bits in between. He's my Everything and All That!
Thanks for sharing!
My best to you,
Avis

hi avis,
i feel the same way.
i can be in a room full of people, and know He is there.
i deal with my daily activities and conversations and chores, and then, i am happy to have some time to talk to a being i choose to call God. asking for His strength, and advice and tenacity, things always work out so much better after our daily talks.
many times a day is more like it.
i simply believe i need to do my part, and He will be happy. He just has to fill me in on what those parts are once in a while.
be good to myself, be good to my family and friends, be good to everyone i come across, be honest and humble and trustworthy and compassionate and non judgmental and caring and unselfish, and willing to work a journey dedicated to be better and do better-that's my goal.
thanks for reading and commenting avis,
always appreciated,
my best,
sue
