Has God Ever Asked for Your Permission?
by Avis Ward(39)GeoVi's Home for Pregnant Teens
I've stopped trying to figure it out and just accept God's will. He knows me far better than I know myself. If I were to work for someone else, I'd be what I've learned as a second shift employee. My nights have become days. Second shift is the 11PM-7AM shift. It's 4:17AM and I'm wide awake!
I'm extremely productive and at peak performance when the world surrounding my little space sleeps. No phones or other responsibilites. Just me and God.
Have you ever noticed that God does not confer with us to decide what happens in our lives? He doesn't ask our permission. I confer with Him all the time. I was doing it before writing this article.
I'm thinking this through as I write. Beside the obvious, He is God; I believe the reason He doesn't confer with us is because He has all the answers and have told us how to access them. We must have the strength to believe. We must have more than the staging. When it comes to the performance, can we deliver? Are we able to follow through?
When life makes a demand and we have no deposit, the check bounces! That's when we really run to Him, isn't it? I know I do!
Aren't you happy He's not like us and doesn't confer with us in our own behalf? That made me laugh. Just imagine Him doing that?
Blessings have taken me where my character is not. I'm seeking Him diligently trying to play catch up. I know I haven't been worthy of all His blessings.
In exchange, I am trying to be a blessing to others, anyone-everyone, on purpose! I heard Joyce Meyer say, "The law of liberty is to be liberated from yourself. It's to live to give." I say Amen to that!
Even when He gives to us, God doesn't say, "Hey Avis, may I pay your mortgage this month?" Wouldn't that be hilarious?
I've tried to think of something I wish He'd sought my permission but can't think of anything. I feel as if I would be blaming Him. I'd like to be enlightened on this, so if there are things you wish He'd ask for your permission, please share them.
He and I talk all the time. He asks me questions but not once can I recall Him asking permission. I'm okay with it. I'm forever in awe of my Savior. You, too?

hi avis,i thought of my earthly father, growing up, and how he would have responded if i had conferred with him on my behalf. it wouldn't have gone well!i've been guilty of putting my trust in God, and then taking it back when things didn't go my way. i'm much better about putting all my trust in Him these days, and trying to be as giving as i can while life sweeps me around like a broom."Please God, help me get through this" is definitely the phrase i have used most in my life.thank you for a reminder that He is listening,my best to you, sueRespond to this comment

Hey Avis, I lucked up on your articles this evening..Love them!Like you my best time shared with God is (what is now) the wee hours of the morning. No, I have never had God ask for my permission. When in fact I have never heard God speak to me at all.Growing up, I was told by my pastor that I am blessed with the gift of faith. I believe that I can move mountains (seriously) I love my God with all my heart if he never says a word to me, I know hes always there. BUT I would like to hear his voice someday. You are so blessed to hear him. Please pray that I will someday. Thanks for the encouragement!Respond to this comment

Hey Erica, I am happy you lucked up on my articles and love them! What a beautiful compliment, thank you! I give God all the credit. We seem to have a bit in common. I love God with all my heart, too and we're night owls. *smiling*
Thanks for answering whether God has asked your permission. I will pray you will hear God's voice someday. You have an amazing gift, the gift of faith! What a blessing that is, Erica! I do feel blessed to hear Him and desire this for you, as well. As I said, I will pray.
If you ever have any encouragement for me, please write to me or share it with all of us. No pressure just an invitation. I would love to hear your faith testimonies. Just think on it.
Much love and hugs. Thank you again and Erica? New Year blessings! :)
