Sometimes, It’s Just You And Me, God

There is almost nothing compared to a good friend we can confide in and bounce off ideas. They always seem to know the right things to say. Our mood can be lifted and some pressure released. Our anger calms down and we may even become more understanding of the opposing side. Friends are priceless.

But…friends sleep at night. We may be upset, depressed, angry, nervous, and afraid, at three a.m. A problem that you may have been having might not want to leave your thoughts. You can’t sleep, there’s nothing on TV, you take a bath, get some tea, and yet, you still feel the same. Four a.m. and the fear starts to seep back in. You begin to cry and sobs freely take over being.

All of a sudden, it comes to you; God is here. How could you have forgotten? You begin a conversation, and before you know it, you are feeling better and more positive, and the sobbing is gone. You know you have been touched, you can feel it. Your outlook on the future feels brighter, happier. The bad thoughts are staying away, and sleep comes for a few hours, anyway.

You realize that sometimes, "It’s just you and me, God." No phones, no computers, no TV, and no people. Simply a connection with the Almighty, and a healing only He can bring. Walls and doors and shower curtains, are invisible to His presence. He can get to us no matter where we are. Our only goal is to remember this in times of need.

I was once heading for a telephone pole, sliding on ice and having no control over the brakes. I was going pretty fast, hydroplaning, and I knew I was a goner, the pole was getting bigger and bigger.

I didn’t even ask God to help me, it was too obvious to me that this was my time. At the last second, the car moved, in the mud, to the left, and I missed the pole. There was no one else around, and I knew I had gone through an experience that could only be felt, and explaining it wouldn’t do it justice.

I knew God was with me, and it was just Him and me. Although, He went one step further, since I was stuck in a ditch, but as soon as I got out of the car, a 4x4 was stopping to ask if I needed help. He pulled me out and I was able to drive home.

In the stillness of our darkest hour, let us not forget that we are not alone. Just remember to tell yourself, "Sometimes, it’s just you and me, God."

Yes, yes, yes! Sue, a goosebumps read. What a testimony to His omnipresence! He doesn't leave you to be with me. I'm just so proud of the God I serve. I want to always show Him off just as you did in the article. Thank you!

hi avis,

i'm glad you could relate.

we can always count on God, as long as we are also holding up our end of the bargain.

so many people don't.

we cleaned out our garage, and piled everything in front of it to borrow our neighbor's truck this morning-he said come over at 9 to get it-my partner did, nad he and his parents were still sleeping.

he went over again-nothing.

so now, we have all this garbage outside our garage door, and we'll have to wait for another time to bring it to the dump because ONE person didn't hold up their end of the bargain!

only God commands our complete devotion and trust.

may He have it, always,

my best to you,

sue
