… " Whatever is true " … Many thoughts and feelings go into the process of trying to check and double check our motives, so we stay honest and true. It is true that the winds blows and the owls coo and the rain strikes the earth at a rapid speed. It is true that the sun makes us feel warm and alive and excited about living. It is true that we have people to love and care about, and who make us want to wake up every morning to a new day.
It is true that some of us love God with a passion, and find comfort in the knowledge that He is never out of reach. It is true that a sparrow can brighten our day, or a flower embedded in some weeds can make us smile at the irony. It is true that we have to push ourselves to maintain the life we’ve been given. And it is true that there are days where depression and a sense of sadness overcomes us. It is true that we possess the power to overturn our feelings and emotions, even if it takes some time.
… " Whatever is noble " …To know right from wrong, and good from bad, and to practice staying on the better side of both, is noble. Giving of yourself when you don’t feel you have anything left to give, is noble. Doing chores or tasks for others, and never mentioning a thing about it, is noble. Holding someone’s hand when you know they are afraid, is noble. Offering a shoulder to cry on, is noble. Staying anonymous in your efforts to help others, is noble.
… " Whatever Is Right " … There is a code of ethics that we must abide by in our society so that we may maintain peace and order. To do the right thing makes that society strong and positive in it’s goals. I remember telling someone that when I was cleaning houses years ago, that I would put all the change that I found in the washer, on a ledge for the owner’s to find. They thought that since I found it, I should keep it. … … " Whatever is right. " …It wasn’t mine. Whether it was a penny, nickel, a quarter, or dollar bills. Doing what is right may not always make us feel good, but it will always be the proper thing to do.
… " Whatever Is Pure " … An infant, just beginning to focus on the life around them, pure in their innocence. A little child picking flowers for mom’s birthday because they’re only 5, and have no money….whatever is pure. The belief that when you talk to God, He listens, is pure. A mother’s love for their child is pure acceptance. No matter what that child does, mom will love them. She may not agree with their decisions in life, but she will always love them in the purest form.
… " Whatever Is Lovely " … nature provides us with a multitude of gifts. I love any kind of flower, brilliant in it’s attempt to pass on joy. When the grass is deep green and fluffy like velvet, it is lovely to the touch. All the little creatures we can gaze at as we sit outside; chipmunks, squirrels, birds, rabbits, deer, all lovely in their beauty. A painting, a tapestry, a photograph, all lovely in their own ways. Poetry, articles, words of those trying to express themselves, both in word and song. All so we can experience, " Lovely. "
… " Whatever Is Admirable " … Someone who knows the truth, speaks the truth, and is not afraid to stand up for the truth, is inspired to be admirable. The man who is in a sinking ship, and let’s you and your child go before him out the door, is admirable. The person who holds you back when you didn’t see the car coming at the crosswalks, is admirable. Someone who runs a household with very little funds, and manages to do so nicely, out of love for their home and family, is admirable.
… " If Anything Is Excellent " …When you know you are with the person God has created for you to spend your life with, it is excellent. When you think alike, and see things in the same way, and believe in the same philosophies and theories, it is excellent. When you are thinking about something, and they mention it, it is excellent. When you know they would do anything for you, it is excellent. When you feel all the same ways, it is excellent.
… " If anything is praiseworthy " … When what you think, say, and do is honest and loyal and caring, it is praiseworthy. When you put yourself last, and make sure everyone else is taken care of, it is praiseworthy. When you make sure you are balanced in heart, mind, body, and soul, it is praiseworthy. When all around you are going crazy, and blaming it on you, and you can ignore it, and go on with your life, it is praiseworthy.
The best thing we can do for our peace of mind, is….think on such things.

Sue, a lovely explanation of the things we should think of instead of the rubbish that we see and hear. The knowledge of this article shows us how to filter it through our minds, in one ear and out the other, and replace it with "such things." Things can become overwhelming to try and process myself. Sometimes I'm more apt to immediately release them and follow these instructions. Other times I admit, I have to work harder at it but I have a choice. This is a wonderful article about what this site is for its writers and readers.
