Be Who You Are

We compete and compare.  This is ego.  We see ourselves as "more spiritual" or "better" or "less spiritual" or "worse" than other people.  Do you think God sees you this way?

God makes no such distinctions.  God loves you for who you are.

Why then, can we not love ourselves this way?  Ego.  Ego wants us to be right and others wrong.  Ego wants us to see others as "better" or "worse" than us.  Ego insists that we defend our opinions, sometimes with willful disregard to manners.

I have accepted that I am loved and that God has given me all I need.  This doesn't make me "super spiritual," it simply means that I have no need for the things that my ego needs.

I have no need for anyone's respect.  Will their respect make me a better person?

I have no need to defend my opinions.  Will "proving" I am "right" make me a better person?

I have no need to see others with distinctions.  Will seeing them as "better" or "worse" make me a better person?

I have no need for others to agree with me.  Will their agreement make me a better person?

I have no need to "figure it out."  Will knowing all secrets make me a better person?

Jesus said, "Love others as you love yourself."  Unless we love ourselves as God does, how can we love others?

Do you believe you are loved?  Do you believe God cares for you?  Do you believe the Creator has given you everything you need?  If you can answer yes to these questions, then there is nothing preventing you from loving God, yourself, and others.  All we really need to do is get the ego out of the way for this to happen.  Of course, this isn't easy.  The ego has had a lifetime to program you.  But once you accept the idea that you have no needs, your re-programming has begun.

Jesus also said, "Notice the birds of the air, they neither sow nor reap, but they are fed.  Notice the lillies of the field, they neither toil nor spin, but they are clothed.  If God provides for them, will He not provide for you also?"

All our needs are met.

Jesus said, "If the son has set you free, you are free indeed."

How much more freedom can we have than to realize that we have no needs?
