This Too Shall Pass, But What About Now
If we believe in " this too shall pass " , then we must also believe in keeping our spirits up when times are rough. We may not have the means to take a trip to a beautiful secluded island, but there are things we can do to weather the storm. We can rely heavily on the important things, those things that bring us pleasure and make us feel happy. It helps to feel safe during times of great stress and distress.
Sometimes, material things just aren't doing that for you at the time. You may have lost your job, which led to losing your house, and your car and your security. The only thing that we really do have in times such as these, is our spirit. How we think about things, what we believe in, if we have hope, if we have Faith. Do we believe in a rhyme and a reason for all things, good and bad? If we do, then to be our best when we feel our worst, is something we need to strive towards.
There will be days that no amount of prodding ourselves is going to change our mood. We are humans, and we don't always have all the answers. Those days may be spent sleeping, or lying on the couch watching tv. So be it, there is a time for everything. However, if we are to move on in a way that benefits us and those we love, we need to do a little work. When we feel like there is a hole in our heart, and a kaleidoscope of thoughts fluttering through our minds, we must stop and take command.
If we have children, they are always a source for contentment and pride. When we are in jeopardy of slipping into depression, that hole needs to be filled from within, and the more positive energy we feed our soul, the stronger we will stay. When our present circumstances change, we want to be able to enjoy our freedom from that particular problem. While feeling weak and lethargic, how do we pick ourselves up?
First, we actually need to push ourselves to take a nice, warm, relaxing bath. We may not think we can deal with it at the time, but we will feel so much better afterwards. Doesn't cost a cent. Just the will power to step in. After using our strength of mind to push us into doing this a few times, it becomes natural, and a calming source. If we like to stay in touch with friends and family, we can e mail and feel connected. We can spend as little or as much time on the internet as we please.
We can explore countries we've always wanted to see. We have the possibility of reading whatever book we want, or listening to whatever music artist we like. Listening to music is another great way to release some of the negativity grappling with our souls. A walk around the property might seem overwhelming, but if we use our determination to succeed at this life, to get us out there and appreciate the nature we'll see, we can easily be lifted. One of the most uplifting sounds, is the sweet song of birds. The air becomes enlightened, and hope is felt within.
A nice hot cup of tea can do wonders. One always feels soothed and taken car of while drinking tea. Thinking problems out is the best defense against heartache and bad feelings. If something is wrong, how can you right it? What are your choices? What are you comfortable doing? What result is the best for all involved? Do you have a valid stand, or can you bend a little to mend a situation? Are you in any type of control? If not, you must learn to let go, and let God.
Acceptance must be absorbed and new ideas of what could make life fun and inspiring and worth living, while giving back, need to be culminated. Planting flowers and trees and shrubs, is a lifelong happiness. Volunteering in an organization that you would be interested in, and would give you a sense of pride, which always helps seal the hole. Knowing that you are doing things for yourself and others, that add to the joy of the world, the positivity, the good energy, is a wonderful feeling. Writing an inspirational article can lift one's spirit, as well as those who may read it. Not one of these things costs any money.
It's really a matter of how strong our mind can be, when our body is weak. Prayer is one of the most comforting practices I have when I'm feeling down. I talk to God, and ask for His guidance and help, and the answer always comes. It's up to me what I'm going to do with it. And with each solution, comes more power to mind, body, and spirit.

Sue, this is very loving wisdom. There are times it seems I hear God say to me: "Share your troubles, failures, heartaches with Me. I will share My Patience and My Strength with you."
Wishing you the very best as site manager. Not just wishes but prayers and as much support I can give. I have told others about onsuchthings dot com. I will do what I can to help. For now, I'm sharing my troubles etc. *warm smile* and counting on His strength.
This too shall pass. Nothing can take His love from me or kill the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of me! Nothing!
I promise to sign in next time, ma'am!
My best,
Avis

Very true! I find comfort in a hot bath after a seemingly terrible day at work. My husband and I have a rule: we can complain about work and life and politics before dinner, but during and after dinner we keep it positive. It makes for a peaceful evening and a nice recharge for the next day!Respond to this comment
